Isabel is the second quilt in the HappNstance series based on Dutch Renaissance garden designs. It is named for Archduchess Isabel Clara Eugenia and her husband, Archduke Albert of Austria, joint sovereigns who ruled the Spanish Netherlands from 1601 to 1633. It was during their rule that geometric garden designs, inspired by Royal France, were developed and popularized in the northern part of the Netherlands. The finished quilt uses embroidery machine applique and is 52” square.
